Awakened
The
obsessive hum of the phone
lulls her to
a sense of reality.
Rise and
fall, rise and fall
of her chest
as her eyes flutter.
The bed
groans as she dangles
her legs
over the creaking frame.
Rickety
creek, rickety creek, of the floor
underneath
the soles of her tootsies.
Sanctuary is
a dark room
with covers
pulled to one’s chin.
Life pulls
us forward into the light
of the outer
world called life.
Eyes glossed
over she’s pulled into verity,
Earth to
Shany what galaxy are you in?
