Easter Weekend

I had such a nice Easter weekend. It started Friday afternoon when Phil, David, Becca and I went to dinner at Rambi's then went to the Venue to see Lindsey Sterling in concert. (If you've never heard her stuff I suggest you YouTube it) It was an amazing concert and I'm thankful for my brother who got me the ticket and dinner as a graduation gift!
After we got home Heidi arrived and we chatted and went to bed. We had loads to do Saturday before Young Women's Conference. (My momma is the YW Pres and had some extra tickets.) So Heidi and I got my graduation announcements made and picked up from Walmart as well as our other stuff done. We came home and got all ready and left early so we could eat dinner before attending the meeting. There is something truly amazing about hearing the talks in person. The spirit hits you so hard.
That night after everyone got home we dyed eggs. Mom made all the eggs with info about Davy and Becca's wedding. She is so excited for his wedding August fourth! After church on Sunday Heidi and I filled and hid eggs. ( we've had a tradition for the last 4 or so years of an egg hunt for we adults.) Everyone had a small Easter surprise on their dinner plate. Grandma just loved her wind up chick! I loved my weekend with my family. I can't believe I'll be back in Salt Lake in just four weeks.

Week Eleven

It's been a busy few days! My senior portfolio is turned in. All I need to do is my capstone reading. It feels so nice to have that done. I've been working on it since October! Most of all it's bringing me to the realization that I am so close to having my Bachelors.
I was able to get all of my tableau pieces shot for photo. Thankfully I have roomies and Neighbors that allow me to use them in my homework assignments. Maybe some day I'll get them all posted on my photo blog. We had to have these images printed for crit and I found myself really hating the printer in the lab. My pictures looked great on the screen and printed way dark.
I'm just glad to have that assignment over. I enjoyed setting up the tableau's it's just that I felt so rushed. Mostly due to the lack of time. Our next assignment is a class project so we should have plenty of time. Paigy and I were able to make it to a basketball game Wednesday which was a great break from homework and such. I'm excited to go to SLC tomorrow and see my family!

Week Ten

Wow, it's been a crazy week! Graduation is a little over a month away and the assignments are piling on. My final portfolio is due on the 25 of March. So I've been putting on final touches and putting together in a nice three ring binder. We've also been busy in Studio Lighting so I've got the hot lights this weekend. (They're so heavy and not my favorite. Its hard to control the light level)
Besides assignments being given and deadlines for others, I had my oral exam in Spanish, which I passed with a B! Our apartment was ripped apart for painting and some renovating. I spent all of Saturday climbing over the couch that field the hallway that went from my room to the bathroom and kitchen. I didn't mind it at first, but by the end of the day I was pretty grouchy. I'm looking forward to next weekend when I get to see my family and some friends.

Week Nine

It has been such an extremely long week! It is so true that after a student has spring break you become exhausted! I've been hard at work putting together my final portfolio for graduation, as well as deciding on what to read at my capstone reading. Being an English major, Creative Writing emphasis, it is required by the English department that I read some of my work that I produced while in the program.
I was suppose to have my reading yesterday, but unfortunately the professor in charge has been ill, so it has to rescheduled. My next six weeks before graduation are going to be crazy anyways. I can't believe how close I'm getting. It's exciting to see an end so near. I also found out this week that I'm ending my final semester with a very large bang! I'm getting pieces published in Metaphor as well as Epiphany. The release dates are both in April.
The next few weeks are going to be very busy so if my blog gets ignored for a bit know that means there is plenty of exciting info to come as soon as I can get a moment in to type!

Mama Janet

During my spring break I got some sad news. My sister Heidi's mother died. She had been sick for quite some time but always pulled out of her brushes with death. When Heidi text us all Thursday morning I prayed that Mama Janet, (as we affectionately called her since my mom is Janet as well)  would be at peace. This wasn't the first time she'd been close to death in the last six months. That night Heidi called me and told me Mama Janet had gone home.
Today as a family of friends, relatives and good friends we laid her to rest. I made the journey last night after my classes to my parents house in order to attend the burial service today. Her beautiful coffin was hand made by her son, two grandsons and some close friends out of pine. On the front they carved her name, and some of her favorite things. Michael McLean, a personal friend of the family sang a beautiful medley number which was followed by a talk given by Heidi and Kevin. The service ended with a bagpipe rendition of the beautiful hymn Amazing Grace.
Afterwords we had the luncheon at my parents and it was great to talk to family and friends. It made me realize just how true the statement is about family being thicker then blood. If Mama Janet hadn't moved in to Wells Ward all those years ago I would have never had Heidi in my life. It truly is amazing how our Heavenly Father puts people in our lives for a reason. Mama Janet We love you and are proud of your accomplishments and legacy.

Sissy Time!

The Kiddos
I was so excited to spend some time with Sissy and the kiddos. I miss them all so much while I'm at school. I've made a habit of visiting with them every chance I get. So I spent the night Tuesday and got to watch the kiddos for a bit while Sissy went to an appointment. H, Bug and Bean all played well together while Bee took her nap.
After she came back we spent some time with the kids and did some stuff around the house. I love spending time with sissy and the kiddos and feel like the time goes by far to quick. Nothing makes my day quite like Bean sleeping in my lap, Bug giving me loves, H wanting to sit by me or baby Bee reaching for me.
Sleepy Bee
I just had to add that one in! She got so cranky. I made her a bottle and laid her down for her afternoon nap. When I came in to gather my stuff this is how she was sleeping!

HSAC

Well I made it to spring break! Now I can get some much needed sleep. I haven't gotten any of that over the weekend. Between seminars, church, and HSLC (high school literary conference) I'm so tired. HSLC went real well though. Josh and I taught in the first block of classes. It ran smoothly and I was surprise at how I wasn't nervous. Our group this year was mostly from a charter school called Davinchi, in downtown Ogden. Afterwords we fed the kids and had an open mic for them to share their work.
Dad picked me up around 3 and we headed back to Taylorsville. I'm excited to spend time with Sissy and the kiddos as well as my family. The best will be the uninterrupted time to work on my portfolio. Horrah for spring break!
