My Newest Poem!

Red’s Curse
She’d always thought it was a legend,
a curse that plagued women from adolescence
and on into old age. Like the birth of the moon,
the curse came every month with a price.

The women’s aura changed. Their bodies
ached with the plague. They hungered
for luxurious ambrosia.  Adolescence crept in.
Panic swept into Red’s heart. The damnation

ambushed Red taking over her frame.
Her cloak wrapped around her as she curled
up on the couch. Surrounded by the nectar of the gods;
Fire blazing as she stares into the ambers.

Granny reassures her as she hands over the mug,
“just take two you’ll feel better.” The spherical
capsules scream defeat in her hands. Damn the curse!
Red’s eyes burn as she swallows the Midol.
