Career Fair

With graduation just around the corner I knew going to the Career Fair was a must. (Even when one still feels yucky from a cold) So last night I vamped up my resume and got myself prepared to find some good prospects for after I graduate. It really is coming soon!

Cold Season

I went into the clinic yesterday before meeting my classmate Megan in the studio because my ears have been bugging me. No ear infection just the beginnings of a cold. By Tuesday afternoon I had a fever and quite the headache. The doc on campus told me to take Tylenol to help with my ear pain. Because of me being on Zoloft and Triamterene I'm not allowed to take Ibuprofen. So I took it up a notch and got cold strength. As most college students know you can't afford to miss classes. So I'd just dose myself up and go to class. Too much to do this week to miss classes due to a cold! Hopefully it goes away soon!

Week Three

Iced over streets after our ice storm!
This week has been crazy! Monday was MLK day so I spent it with Sissy and the kiddos. Tuesday I worked on homework and took a spin class with Paigy. Wednesday was just long. I was suppose to meet for an interview on graduation but they rescheduled on me when I was halfway to campus. I had to meet with my non-fiction staff so I had less then a day to read all the submissions. I brought my camera to work on assignments in the lab only to find out it was a demo day. By the time I walked into my meeting with my staff I was feeling a bit frazzled and frustrated.
We were able to finish our meeting at 5:40 pm and Josh and I walked slowly home from the icy campus. We truly could of ice skated on the sidewalks! It was nice to sit down and relax after my long day. My roomies both have a night class on Wednesdays so I came home to an empty apartment. Paigy and I have been trying to go to the gym five days a week but it can be difficult when its nasty out and bitter cold.
Thursday I spent the day working on my portfolio pieces. We had freezing rain which turned the roads into sold ice. Going to school this morning was a doozy.

Week Two

So its been a busy second week. We had a long weekend due to the snow day on last Friday. Which made this week feel extra long. My classes are going well. I have my long days on Mondays and Wednesday. I've been studying hard for my Spanish class and hope things are sticking. My other classes keep me pretty busy. We have been working hard in Studio Lighting and today Megan and I did some shots in her basement in order to get a feel for the lights. I'm glad we tag teamed because I still feel anxious about using the lights alone.
I also got my graduation application in as well as my major signed off.  I just need to okay my minor and I'll be that much closer to having my bachelors! I can't believe how fast those three years went by. The weather has been super icky and cold. I made the mistake of leaving my warmest coat at my parents during the long holiday break. I've felt like Randy from a Christmas Story the last two weeks as I've walked to school. Well I'm on the front runner and I gotta watch for my stop.

Portraiture Project for Studio Lighting...

I look mad here.

Getting close...

Second favorite...

Another picture looking angry...

I look sad here...

vulnerable...

Timid

Unsure...

Pensive and Strong!

Nervous...
Portraiture in Studio Lighting. Every photographers nightmare. You mean you want to take MY picture? Our professor said to pick a pose or word that defined who we were. Pensive. Being a writer I'm constantly zoning out into my own little world. Pensive would be my word. Standing under lights trying to find the best pensive look isn't exactly a fun thing to do. (those lights are extremely hot!) I think I found the one though...
Pensive
That would be me in a nutshell! This class is only on week two and already making my classmates and I pull our hair out. I love a challenge and this class is definitely going to do that!

Cold Weekend

We got a nasty storm that started Thursday afternoon and pretty much continued until Saturday morning. Friday morning I received a code purple text at 5:30 am informing me that campus would be closed. Around noon my roomie and I shoveled close to 2 plus feet of snow off our driveway! It didn't end there we continued into the weekend with a cold front leaving our highs in the single digits! I think if this semester keep on being this cold I may need to buy some more long underwear and a ski mask!

Final Semester as a WSU Wildcat!

Its hard to believe that I'm on my final semester as a Weber State wildcat. Because I'm in my final semester my schedule is real late in the day. (this is what happens when the classes you need are only offered once that semester and later in the day) My classes are 3 days a week and on Monday and Wednesday they go from 11:30 am to after 5 pm.
It's the new semester and it's starting with a bang. submissions for Metaphor are due on the 18th. Metaphor is the literary journal for non-grad students at WSU. I was made the non-fiction editor last semester. Spring is the busiest semester for us because its when we go through submissions and start putting together the book. I signed up for the Metaphor class which is an easy A and works for workshop credit which every Creative Writing student needs. Because it's the first week of school clubs and orgs had all the clubs set up tables in the union building to get new members. Jenn (editor and chief of metaphor) and I sat at our table for Metaphor for an hour in a half  before going to Spanish this morning.
The nice thing about being so far in my program is I know people in everyone of my classes. Jenn is in my Spanish 2020 class with me. After 3 semesters with the same Professor I had to switch to a new one. She is nice but much stricter. We are two classes in and I've already put so much time into reviewing. Thankfully about half of the class was in my previous class and we've exchanged numbers with one another. I hope to retain more of it this semester.
I had one more genre class to take for my major and after doing some poetry, biographical writing and such I decided to go with Journal and Notebook Writing. I'm taking this with a professor I've taken before. He's also the same professor who is helping me with my senior portfolio. I'm excited to learn more about common place books and the importance of writing an annotating.
I'm taking my last class for my minor as well. Studio Lighting with the same professor as I took Seminar from in the Fall. It's going to be a challenging as well as enjoyable class. The class has 11 people and 9 of them are from my seminar class. Which is nice because we've all worked with each other before. I'm excited to see what I learn and can use to improve my photography. I just on Wednesdays it didn't over lap with Metaphor.
All in all I'm excited to see what my final semester has in store for me.

Happy Birthday Momzilla! I'm so thankful for you and all you do. I've enjoyed building a relationship with you and now that I've been on my own for a year in half I appropriate all the advice you gave me so much more. Unfortunately school started on your birthday so I wasn't there for your Birthday dinner but I enjoyed lunch with you and Heidi at Zupas Saturday. Love you so much Momzilla!!!!!

My Project

So if anyone knows me well they know two important things about me. First I was born on Halloween, second I love skeletons. I bought this black material back in the beginning of October with all the intentions of making a cape for Halloween. With my hectic semester and all my health issues last semester it just didn't happen.

During Thanksgiving break Heidi and I found the blue flannel on sale at Walmart so she bought me enough to make a blanket. I knew the project would have to wait until after finals and my Winter break. so I put the material aside for later. My mom loves to sew. When I should her the material she asked me what I wanted to do with it. "I want you to teach me how to make a blanket." So armed with a Walmart gift card I bought batting and yarn to tie my blanket. (Now I originally bought a soft black to tie it with but then my mom brought up that it wouldn't show. the only other color that worked that I had was this veragated  pink...) I took me a couple days to tie and quite a few movies. In the end I am very pleased with the outcome. Also its great in my cold apartment on those chilly nights when it drops to the single digits. Thanks Momzilla!

Kiddos

Hermione holding Charlotte, Aiden & Abbygail
One thing I loved about the break was being able to spend time with Sissy and the loves of my life; Meanie Mione Mo, Bug, Beanie Baby, and Baby Bee. It's amazing how much you can love a child. It had been a while since I'd taken their pictures so I spent the night on the 30 of December and on New Year's Eve we did a mini photo shoot.
Charlotte Shannon 8mo.

Ah my name sake. What else is there to say? I love this little girl so much. She just loves people and her family. No one can make her laugh harder then Meanie Mione Mo. She has an infectious smile that makes everyone happy. She loves to snuggle and is the proud owner of 4 shiny, sharp teeth. She is definitely a chill go with the flow kiddo. I cannot believe she'll be one in April!
Abbygail Jean 2 yrs & 5mo.
Abby is a diva. She definitely makes her wants known and has since her birth. She is Sissy's shadow and loves to help with Baby Charlie. She has grown so much this year. We did her Birthday photo shoot and she gained a baby sister. She is a cuddlier and loves all things girly! She loves to play with her brother and sisters. I love cuddle time with her and receiving calls from her to talk with Auntie Shan.
Aiden Jay 4 yrs. & 3mo.
Aiden has accomplished so much this year! He is in his second year of preschool and is talking more and more. Its funny to see him and think he was the 2 lb baby boy born 12 weeks early. His favorite things in life are Mickey Mouse, school, and cars. He is a lover like his baby sisters and climb in your lap and cuddle just as much as the babies. He is a ham and loves to make his momma laugh.
Hermione Marie 6 yrs. & 3 mo.
Meanie Mione Mo! I remember the first time I met this timid little toe head three years ago. She has grown up so much from then. Hermione started kindergarten in September and was lucky to get in a all day program. She is in class with her best friend which is both a blessing and hindrance. She is a great big sister to her baby sisters and little brother. She loves having girl time with mommy and Aunt Shannon. She has had a tough year with her Anxiety and PTSD but is learning positive ways of coping. We've been proud of her accomplishments and love spending time with her!
Ah I love these kiddos and it's going to be tough to go back to school and not see them weekly. Thankfully Sissy is great at sending me picture messages. Love ya little sprouts!
